Eyelid Surgery in Tunisia Widening Your Horizons

Eyelid surgery also called blepharoplasty is also referred to as blepharoplasty. It is meant to improve the appearance of the lower or upper eyelids or both. This plastic surgery procedure is intended to rejuvenate the eyes and the surrounding area, giving the eyes a more youthful and rested appearance. During the surgery the specialist removes the excess fat that makes the eyes look puffy along with the excess skin that folds and distorts the contour of the eyes and that might bother the vision. If the lower eyelid is treated, the skin will be stretched getting rid of the thin wrinkles and of the bags from under the eyes.

The steps of eyelid surgery in Tunisia

The first step of the procedure is for the patient to be sedated through general anesthesia or intravenous sedation. The incisions are made by the plastic surgeon in the areas that would naturally be concealed by the structure of the eyelids. Drooping eyelids can be corrected through an incision made to the crease of the eyelid, tightening the tissue and skin, removing the excess skin and repositioning the fat deposits. When treating the lower eyelid, an incision needs to be made close to the lower lash line. To remove or redistribute the excess fat from the eyelids, the surgeon may also make an incision on the inside of the lower lid.

In order to close the incisions, the surgeon will use absorbable or removable sutures, surgical tape and skin adhesives.

What happens after the surgery?

It is common for the eye of the patient to be covered with gauze and cold compresses and lubricating ointment will be applied to the treated eye. In the majority of the cases the patients experience swelling, irritation, bruising, discomfort and dry eyes after the surgery. These symptoms can be controlled by taking oral medication and applying cold compresses and ointment on the eye. Your doctor will give you indications on how to care for your eye.
